| Why do we need a software solution for HIPAA privacy? |
HIPAA privacy introduces at least 500 new requirements for covered entities. You don't need software to become compliant, but it will enable you to become compliant in less time and with fewer headaches. Moreover, because software automates and/or simplifies many of these new requirements, your ongoing costs of operation as related to HIPAA privacy and security will be significantly less.
| What is the difference between your HPA software and other HIM or correspondence management software? |
Our HPA software was designed specifically for HIPAA privacy. It is not an addition to an existing product line that serves some other purpose, nor was it built with any other intent. It contains features specific to solving HIPAA privacy related issues.
| Does your software replace existing systems? |
Absolutely not! Our solutions are effective because they simply augment (or extends) your existing systems. There is no need to replace your existing systems.
| What if we don't need your entire HPA product? Can we use only the disclosure functionality? |
Yes, HPA is offered in a full version and a disclosures only version. Read more about HPA in the HPA product overview.
| We have legacy mainframe systems, can your software solutions integrate with those systems? |
Yes, all of our solutions can integrate with external systems.
| How long does it take to integrate your software with other systems? |
It depends on the level of integration required. The minimal integration time frame is a couple days, with some integrations taking about one or two months. Installation without integration, however, work can usually be accomplished in a couple hours.
| Do you have a staff that can integrate your software with our systems? |
Yes, our staff has extensive experience working with external systems.
| Can our developers work with yours during integration? |
Yes, we encourage such a relationship for knowledge transfer purposes.
| Does your HPA software guarantee compliance with the HIPAA privacy regulations? |
No software can ever guarantee HIPAA compliance, and we do not make that claim. Compliance is up to you as a covered entity. It is your interpretation of the law, and your ability to consistently execute that interpretation that will determine your compliance status. Our software simply exists to make compliance easier and less expensive.
| Does your HPA software provide any default privacy policies or procedures? |
No, the software does not define or provide any privacy policies or procedures. However, since the software automates and/or simplifies so many of the tasks associated with HIPAA privacy, creating your policies is often much easier. Further, if you already have privacy policies and procedures in place, and the software does not meet those polices, we can often customize the functionality to better suit your needs.
| Why should we use your software for HIPAA? |
There are two simple reasons to use software: a reduced implementation timeframe and the cost savings associated with ongoing compliance. The software reduces your HIPAA privacy implementation timeframe because we've already done the hard work. We've put over 25 person-years of analysis and development time into software which you can benefit right away. Further, the software provides ongoing cost savings because it automates and/or simplifies many of the reoccurring HIPAA privacy requirements.
| What type of technology does your software utilize? |
The software is written in Java and will run on any Java-compliant OS (Windows, Solaris, Linux, etc.). The software utilizes an Oracle database and application server.
