U.S. Department of Defense Military Health System Goes Live with HIPAA Accelerator Privacy Solution Based on Oracle
Chicago, IL. - January 21, 2004 - HIPAA Accelerator, Inc. announced today that its HIPAA privacy application, integrated with the Oracle® Database and Application Server, has been successfully deployed at the U.S. Department of Defense Military Health System. HIPAA Accelerator's Fast Track privacy software provides the comprehensive privacy compliance required by the Military Health System, and its incorporation with Oracle's technology offers a secure, cost-effective and scalable solution for the 530 treatment facilities within the health system. HIPAA Accelerator is a Member Partner of the Oracle PartnerNetwork.
The HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) privacy provisions introduce many regulatory challenges for healthcare provider organizations, such as Military Health System hospitals and clinics. The browser-based Fast Track HIPAA privacy solution simplifies these complex challenges by automating what would otherwise require manual policies and procedures. This type of automation also provides the added benefit of lower compliance-related costs. Moreover, because Fast Track is the industry’s most comprehensive application for HIPAA privacy, regulatory conformance is often higher than through competing solutions or traditional compliance efforts.
The consulting firm of Booz Allen Hamilton managed the software selection process for the Military Health System. Booz Allen is the primary contractor to the Military Health System for HIPAA privacy, and led the integration process of HIPAA Fast Track and Oracle.
The Military Health System required a highly comprehensive, scalable and secure system for HIPAA privacy compliance, said John Cerwin, President of HIPAA Accelerator. By teaming with Oracle, we were able to quickly deliver and implement such a solution, with an end result of lower costs for military health and greater health information-related privacy for members of the military.
This will help provide better healthcare to the military and is another proof point why government agencies and businesses select Oracle for their high-volume, secure information systems, said Mark Johnson, Senior Vice President, Oracle Federal.
Fast Track is the most comprehensive product available for the HIPAA privacy regulations, as well as for provider medical records request management and tracking. The application consists of over 110 screens with extensive features, including disclosure recording, disclosure file import, disclosure restrictions, disclosure accounting, disclosure accounting suspension, designated record set definition, PHI access, PHI amendment, authorization management, notice of privacy practices management, confidential communications management, privacy complaint processing, automated letter generation, document management, workflow management, rule-based decision support, invoice management, and external system integration.
